Tips to Save on Water and Electricity
Use Less Energy:
- Time your geyser and make sure it’s only on during certain times of the day. It’s easy to construct a
schedule around your hot, and by doing so you are guaranteed to not only save energy but also money.
- Wash your clothes in cold water rather than hot. It’s good for energy and better for your clothing items.
- Unplug appliances like your cell phone charger and television when you’re not using them. You’ll be surprised to know how much energy this saves.
- Try not to use a tumble dryer too often. It damages your clothes and also using an incredible amount of electricity.
- LED lighting is a compact fluorescent light bulb that is much more energy efficient than regular light bulbs.
Use Less Water:
- Time your showers. You don’t have to have your daily epiphany whilst cleansing yourself, by having shorter showers you will not only save water but also electricity.
- Time your sprinklers and save water by only watering your plants during the right time of day and for not too long.
- Purchase a low-flow showerhead, they’re not all that expensive and they also ensure that you use less water.
- Invest in some faucet aerators. They’re cheap appliances and are designed to conserve the heat and water whilst maintain a high water pressure.
- Find out which plants need the minimal amount of water and replace your high maintenance plants with them.
